S.BATBOLD MEETS UPU HEAD
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister S.Batbold met Monday a delegation led by Mr. Edouard Dayan, head of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in times of the Executive Council Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Postal Union (APPU) kicked off in Ulaanbaatar city. This meeting is bringing together some 200 delegates of 50 countries for concluding rights and wrongs of the UPU's technological activities and for approving a updated rule.
The Premier has expressed thanks on behalf of himself and the government to the UPU for running the APPU Executive Council Meeting in Mongolia. Mentioning that Mongolia joined the UPU in 1963 and the APPU in 2002, the Premier has said he was satisfied with a development of the Mongolia's collaboration with the UPU and the APPU. S.Batbold has noted that the Mongolia's government has approved the "Post to every family" program with an investment of MNT 1.6 billion allotted from the state budget, and it aimed to improve the hardware of the postal basic network and to introduce IT in the postal sector. The Premier has reported Mongolia wants to nominate itself for membership of the Consumer Postal Council at the UPU's Doha Congress, to run its representative in the UPU's International Bureau, and to co-implement a collaboration project.
In his turn, Mr. Dayan thanked the Prime Minister for an audience, and briefed to him about works implemented by the UPU. Mr. Dayan has promised to pay an attention to the proposals of the Premier and supported Mongolia for participating in the Doha Congress to be held next year.
