Japan keen on high-speed rail projects in Chiang Mai and Rayong
BANGKOK, July 25 (TNA) - Japan is interested in conducting a feasibility study on its proposed high-speed rail projects in Thailand.
The plan was disclosed on Monday at a meeting in Bangkok between Thai Transport Ministry Permanent Secretary Supoj Saplom and visiting Japanese Railway Bureau Engineering Affairs Deputy Director Akira Yonezawa.
The two projects, linking Bangkok to Chiang Mai, and Bangkok to Rayong, would have a combined total distance of over 800 kilometers, worth over Bt230 billion.
The Thai transport official noted at this stage concerned authorities had not concluded their investment preferences and that both sides had only begun exchanging information on the project. (TNA)
