Hat Yai tourism revitalized

HAT YAI, July 25 (TNA) - Tourism in Hat Yai, Thailand's southern business hub in Songkhla Province, has been reviving, thanks to its charming attractions and rebuidling confidence among Thai and international visitors.

Somchart Pimthanapoonporn, chief of Songkhla's tourist businesses council, reported on the healthy prospect on Monday, acknowledging that foreign tourists from neighbouring Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, as well as Thai visitors in their seminar groups have been pouring into Hat Yai, resulting in local hotel rooms having been booked until late this year, particularly during weekends.

Somchart said that the reserved hotel rooms in Hat Yai have been at least some 20 per cent increase from last year, suggesting incoming visitors check local hotel room vacancies in advance, especially during the weekends.

According to the Songkhla tourist businesses council chief, international visitors' rising confidence in security measures collectively provided by all agencies concerned, tasty food, a variety of products and continually-attractive promotional activities have contributed to the active tourism in Hat Yai.
