BANGKOK, July 25 (TNA) - Austrian ambassador and Russian charge d’affaires are meeting Yingluck Shinawatra this week, wishing Thailand to restore national unity and leadership in ASEAN.
On Monday, Austrian ambassador to Thailand Johannes Peterlik met with Yingluck to congratulate her on the election victory of her Pheu Thai party, which would lead the next coalition government.
During the meeting, Ambassador Peterlik promised to support bilateral trade and investment, and also said he hoped Thailand would restore its leadership in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He urged Thailand to enhance its potential and return as the regional leader as soon as possible, especially as Vietnam and many other countries were progressing.
Ambassador Peterlik also said he understood conflicts in Thailand, saying similar problems also occurred in Europe. He encouraged Thai people to promote reconciliation which he said would lead to economic development.
In a subsequent meeting, Russian charge d’affaires Andrey Y Plam congratulated Yingluck on her election results, and promised to support bilateral cooperation in science and technology with Thailand.
The Russian official also praised the Pheu Thai Party for issuing many policies to facilitate foreign investments, saying he expected economic stimulation across Thailand in the future. (TNA)
