RAF Sends Relief Assistance to Horn of Africa
Doha, July 24 (QNA) - Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has sent emergency relief to Kenya for those affected by the drought that hit the areas in the Horn of Africa.
The charity said it has completed all technical and organizational procedures to get the relief in Kenya, including field coordination with local partners, and data collection on the humanitarian situation as well as the challenges faced there.
RAF's head of charitable projects Dr. Ali Al Akbari said that a Qatari team of volunteers will travel to Somali-Kenyan border to oversee the provision of assistance which will include several relief convoys, the first of which costs QR500,000 and contains food, drinking water, infant formula, clothing, and tents.
Dr. Akbari appealed to both citizens and residents to help their brothers in the Horn of Africa to alleviate the damage suffered as a result of drought and famine.
RAF's efforts comes within those of other Qatari charities as Qatar Charity announced a few days ago the launch of QR 800,000 emergency aid program for Somalia to mitigate the effects of the disaster that hit the southern provinces of the country, while Qatar Red Crescent announced the completion of a major project for water in areas of central and southern Somalia.
