Yemen, Malaysia discuss preparations for joint committee meetings

SANA'A, Sep 15 (Saba) - Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya
al-Mutawakil discussed on Monday with the Malaysian ambassador to
the country Abdul Samad Othman current preparations for holding
meetings of the Yemeni-Malaysian Commercial Committee.

The meetings are to be held at the end of 2008.

The meeting also dealt with efforts exerted to hold a conference on
industry in Yemen planned to be held in December in the
southeastern province of Hadramout.

It reviewed bilateral trade and industry relations between the two
countries and means to boost them as well as learning from Malaysian
experiences in this regard.

Al-Mutawakil stressed the necessity of holding the conference which
he says will help promote the partnership between the public and
private sectors to tackle problems hindering the industry
development in the country and to improve the quality of production.

Reviewing promising industrial opportunities in Yemen, al-Mutawakil
said Yemen is looking forward to an active Malaysian participation
in the conference, inviting Malaysian businessmen to take
advantage of investment merits provided by the Yemeni investment
laws.
