Thai Premier expresses his condolences over the third helicopter crash
BANGKOK, July 24 (TNA) - Thailand’s caretaker Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva expressed his condolence over the latest tragedy of the third helicopter crash in Phetchaburi province Sunday, calling for moral support for the victims of the crash.
The Thai Premier spoke about the incident in remarks to reporters Sunday that he learned about the helicopter crash from the Thai Army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha and that he wanted to extend his condolence to the friends and families of the victims of the crash.
Abhisit also called on the public to give morale support for concerned officials who still had to continue with their mission to retrieve the remaining bodies of the previous helicopter crash near the Thai-Burmese border.
Asked if there is a room for improvement in the retrieval operation, Abhisit said the mission was difficult due to geographical and poor weather conditions, noting that he believed that the officials had done their best.
He also said that the helicopters were regularly used and there were no sign of any malfunction.
Asked if the repeated crashes implied possible procurement irregularity practiced by military officials, Abhisit reassured that that procurements or arm and equipments at the Army were carried out for due causes and in line with budgetary conditions. (TNA)
