UN: Qatar Second Relief Provider to Somalia
Doha, July 24 (QNA) - Qatar Charity is the second relief provider of famine hit people in Somalia in July outperforming major UN humanitarian organizations in term of quick interaction, an international humanitarian report said.
Qatar Charity provided meals for 8,000 displaced Somalis in one day, food items to 2000 displaced and mobile health services for 15,000 displaced, Qatari daily (The Peninsula) reported Sunday, citing a report by the UN office for humanitarian affairs coordination.
Other top relief providers to Somalia were World Food Program, Unicef, DRS, Islamic Relief, UN High Commission for Refugee Affairs and the British Migration and Islamic Aid Organization.
The office of Qatar Charity in Somalia has provided QR800,000 aid to 2,000 families and food rations to 800 displaced families in Mogadishu.
