Third Thai Army helicopter crash, killing three people and wounding another
BANGKOK, July 24 (TNA) - Another helicopter of the Thai Army crashed Sunday morning near the Kaeng Krachan National Park in Phetchaburi Province where two such tragedies had just happened. The latest crash, which was the third in slightly over a week time, killed three people and injured one.
Military sources confirmed the latest crash Sunday saying that the Bell 212 helicopter carrying two pilots and two flight mechanics on board was on a mission to support an operation to retrieve the remaining bodies of seven victims of the Black Hawk crash on July 19.
They said the helicopter crashed in a forest near the Ton Kate Market in Kaeng Krachan District, at 9.30 am about 10 minutes after took-off. A search and rescue team had been dispatched to the crash site.
According to a preliminary report, three people on board were killed and another was seriously injured. The injured person was immediately taken to the Phra Chomkhlao Hospital.
The Huey helicopter of the Army crashed in Kaeng Krachan National Park during an operation to suppress forest encroachers on July 16, killing all five soldiers on board. Three days afterward, eight other soldiers and a cameraman of TV Channel 5 were killed in a Blackhawk helicopter crash which was on a mission to retrieve the five bodies of the first crash. The three tragedies claimed altogether 17 people. (TNA)
