Pakistan expresses grave concern on water reduction by India in Chenab river

Islamabad, Sept 15 PPI: Pakistan Monday expressed grave concern over reduction in agreed fiftyfive thousand cusecs water to nearly thirty to forty thousand cusecs per day by India from Occupied Kashmir to Pakistan in Chenab River.

Stating this Chairman Indus Water Commission of Pakistan, Syed Jamaat Ali Shah said
he has contacted his Indian counterpart with suggestions to solve this issue at the
Commission level.

He said Foreign Office has also taken up this matter with Indian High Commissioner
in Pakistan on September 7, 2008 to explain as why Indus Water Treaty (between the
two countries of 1960) has been violated and agreed water is not being released
towards Pakistan (from Occupied Kashmir).
