Taliban militants free 25 Pakistani security forces personnel
Islamabad, Sept 15 PPI: The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan militants on Monday freed 25 Pakistani security forces personnel from their prison in northwestern Swat Valley of the country.
The personnel were kidnapped in July after they stormed a checkpoint in Kabal area
of Swat. The banned TTP spokesman Muslim Khan said security men have been freed as a
goodwill gesture to negotiation between elders and government officials to end
fighting in the area.
Officials said TTP still hold 13 other security personnel. They are also holding
hostage two Chinese engineers in Swat and demanding release of their 16 men for
their freedom, according to Chinese ambassador in Islamabad.
Elders and officials held talks in recent days to find a solution to end fighting in
Swat, which has claimed lives of hundreds of militants and troops in recent months.
Pakistani forces shelled positions of suspected militants in Kuza Bandai area of
Swat on Monday. There was no report of any casualty.
