Turkey's emergency situation management sends 2 million TL to governor's office to help Syrians


ANKARA (A.A) - July 22, 2011 - Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management sent on Friday 2 million Turkish liras-TL (1.19 million USD) to the Hatay Governor's Office to help the Syrian citizens staying in this southern province.
The management extend 2 million TL of more assistance to the governor's office, raising the total amount of monetary assistance to 7.7 million TL (4.6 million USD).
Moreover, the number of Syrian people who escaped from the violence in their country and took shelter in Turkey dropped to 8,251 on Friday.
Twenty-eight Syrians had returned to their country in two days, but 68 others crossed into Turkey.
A total of 15,834 Syrian citizens have crossed into Turkey so far, but 7,583 of them have returned to their country.
Syrians are staying in seven temporary tent-sites set up by Turkish Red Crescent in Altinozu, Yayladagi, Reyhanli towns and Apaydin village of Turkey's southern province of Hatay.
Hundreds of people have been killed during pro-democracy protests in Syria since January 2011.
