Japan Govt Adopts 2 Bills to Support Nuclear Evacuees

Tokyo, July 22 (Jiji Press)--The Japanese government on Friday adopted two bills aimed at supporting people who have been forced to evacuate due to the crisis at Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s <9501> Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.
One of the bills would allow evacuees to receive nursing care, education and other public services without moving their resident registries to the municipalities hosting the shelters. It also calls on the government to provide financial support to these municipalities to help them reduce related paperwork costs.
The other bill is designed to exempt evacuees from fixed-asset and city planning taxes for fiscal 2011 that ends next March. Tax relief will also be granted to evacuees who buy substitute cars or properties.
