Zambian woman nabbed in Pakistan for drug trafficking

Quetta/Lusaka, July 21, 2011 (PPI):  A 29-year-old Zambian woman has been arrested in Pakistan for drug trafficking, Zambian Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) public relations manager John Nyawala was quoted as saying by Zambian Times.

Mr. Nyawali said Precious Selisho a resident of Northmead in Lusaka was arrested at Quetta International Airport for trafficking in heroin crystals weighing 250 grams which were placed in her uterus.

The arrest of Ms. Selisho comes a week after two other Zambian women were arrested in Sao Paulo, Brazil for trafficking in different quantities of cocaine.

Mr. Nyawali said Ms. Selisho was arrested by the airport security personnel as she was about to board a plane to Dubai.

He said Selisho risks a possible death penalty or a lengthy jail terms in Pakistan. Mr. Nyawali said early this year the commission arrested Ms. Selisho in Lusaka for cocaine trafficking but was later discharged by a Lusaka magistrate court.

More than 10 Zambian women have in the last six months been arrested mostly in Asia and South America for trafficking in different types of narcotic drugs.
