Thailand to enjoy sufficient rice supply
BANGKOK, July 21 (TNA) - A recent survey conducted on rice millers and exporters around Thailand indicates that the country has sufficient rice supply for domestic consumption.
Commerce Minister Permanent Secretary Yanyong Puangraj acknowledged the report on Thursday, saying that the survey had found plenty of rice supply throughout the Kingdom, while the government had also reserved over 1 million tons of rice.
Besides, Yanyong noted that about 2 million tons of rice from the second yield of the second crop rice would reach markets from late this month to next month. He added that the Thai Rice Mills Association also promised to supply more rice to local markets if a shortage occurred. (TNA)
