Indian worker dies in mishap in Bahrain
Dubai, Sept 15 (PTI) An Indian worker was killed and two others injured when a wall collapsed at a construction site in Bahrain.
M. Devendra (27), along with two other men, was laying water pipes in a deep trench in the Salmabad locality on Saturday when the incident took place, local media has reported.
Eye-witnesses said that Devendra was dead when a rescue team took his body out of the trench.
The two others -- M. Gangayya (30) and Bala Lingam (40) -- escaped with minor injuries and were transferred to Salmaniya Medical Complex for treatment.
Bahrain's labour ministry occupational health and safety head, Ali Abdulla Makki, said that inspectors had visited the accident site and recorded statements of witnesses. Makki, according to Gulf Daily News, said initial findings suggested that certain safety measures were not in place, adding investigation was continuing.
