Yingluck postpones her report for duty

BANGKOK, July 20 (TNA) - With more than two weeks of limbo MP status since the July 3 election, Yingluck Shinawatra was finally given endorsement by the Election Commission of Thailand (EC) late Tuesday.
But in no hurry to report for her duty, the potential female Thai prime minister has postponed registration at the House Secretariat, saying that she will wait for other Pheu Thai MP-elects, who still lacked official confirmation.
Yingluck told reporters on Wednesday she was happy the EC endorsed her status. She insisted however, a legal team will work on enquiring delayed endorsements for Pheu Thai candidates who are leaders of the red-clad United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD).
The Pheu Thai top party-list MP added that from now on, she will work out the policies of her government, and will discuss the issue with coalition parties after the EC finishes its MP status confirmation.
Meanwhile, Democrat key figures Abhisit Vejjajiva and Suthep Thaugsuban, who also received endorsements on Tuesday, have not shown up at the parliament either. (TNA)
