Thai farmers to be ready for AEC
BANGKOK, July 19 (TNA) - Farmers in Thailand will now gain access to more information on free trade and the formation of an ASEAN Economic Community or AEC in 2015.
Department of Trade Negotiations Director-General Srirat Ratthapana, on Tuesday signed an agreement with the Department of Cooperatives Promotion, to jointly develop a knowledge network for Thai farmers.
Under the agreement, both departments would begin holding training sessions in the 2011 fiscal year for officials and members of cooperatives in Bangkok and other provinces. Trained officials and cooperative members would then help prepare farmers in their neighbourhoods to cope with emerging changes from free trade in the future, including new business opportunities.
