Holidaymakers return to Bangkok

BANGKOK, July 18 (TNA) - Holidaymakers around Thailand are returning to Bangkok this week after their four-day public holiday since last Friday.

An officer at Transport Co said arrivals on Monday was still lower than on Sunday, due to an extra day off for civil workers, while businesses have resumed operations.

Transport Co announced earlier it had increased the number of bus trips by 1,000 to 4,500 to facilitate about 100,000 passengers, with inbound travelling to Bangkok expected to come mostly from the country’s Northeast.

In southern Songkhla province, the Hat Yai train station was packed with both Bangkok-bound and South-bound passengers, while all southern line trains were fully booked.

Malaysian and Singaporean tourists also made their return following their merit-making trips during the Asalaha Bucha Day and the Buddhist Lent. (TNA)
