Veerachai Palasai, the Thai ambassador to The Hague, explained the Thai News Agency about the three scenarios in which the ICJ could make saying that that the Court might decide to reject the Cambodian request and drop the case; or it might accept the request and issue provisional measures as requested by Cambodia; or it might order both Thailand and Cambodia to jointly take actions.
The Thai ambassador said Thai delegations did their best to defend Thailand’s positions during their testimony to the ICJ. He added that he believed in the impartiality of the Court and that its Monday’s ruling would prove the case.
Cambodia demanded the ICJ to order Thailand to withdraw troops from the vicinity of the Preah Vihear temple, refrain from all military activity that might violate Cambodia’s rights and sovereignty, and crease military activity around the Thai-Cambodia border area.
Situations along the Thai-Cambodian border near the Preah Vihear temple had so far remained calm while locals were following up the developments of the situation closely. (TNA)
