Bodies of five Thai soldiers have been found at their helicopter crash site
BANGKOK, July 17 (TNA) - The charred bodies of the five Thai soldiers have been found at the helicopter crash site in Phetchaburi Province.
Late Sunday morning, seven soldiers of the Surasee Task Force who were still trapped in the Kaeng Krachan National Park, was able to reach the copter crash site on a mountain, some 400 meters from the location where they were stranded, to search for the bodies of the soldiers killed in the crash. All the five bodies were found lying outside the wreckage of the helicopter.
Nevertheless, turbulent weather still prevented a rescue helicopter from landing at the site. Soldiers, therefore, planned to drop a team of rangers off a helicopter into the area where the team could get to the site on foot to remove the bodies out of the forest. However, it would take at least a day for the rangers to reach there.
The five ill-fated officers were on a mission to rescue the 19 other officers who were trapped in the jungle in Kaeng Krachan National Park after bringing media crews to cover the encroachment on the national park last Monday. (TNA)
