Vote campaign did not violate election law, says Abhisit

BANGKOK, July 16 (TNA) - Acting Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva confirms his campaign during the July 3 election complied with the election law.

Abhisit made the announcement Saturday after the Election Commission of Thailand (EC) delayed to endorse his MP status pending electoral fraud allegations. He insisted campaigns held throughout Thailand were justified, saying that he was not worried over the limbo MP status.

Speaking of the Pheu Thai party, Abhisit said he would like to see some clarification on its policies given during the election, especially on the controversial 300-baht minimum wage plan.

Meanwhile, Pheu Thai spokesman Phrompong Nopparit, responded to the Democrat’s planned lawsuit against Pheu Thai for allegedly campaigning with unfeasible policies, saying that the Democrats should reflect on its own failure to implement the “99 day-policy” to put out unrest in southern Thailand.

He assured all Pheu Thai policies will reach full implementation, and urged the election agency to endorse over 95 per cent of all MP-elects, to give way for the first House session, and a chance for the country to remedy its problems. (TNA)
