Rodong Sinmun Calls for Respect to Sovereignty
Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- To respect sovereignty among countries is a prerequisite and basic guarantee for establishing and developing the genuine international relations of friendship and cooperation, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in a bylined article.
Leader Kim Jong Il's historic visit to China in May eloquently showed the progressive countries and peoples in the efforts to build an independent new world how to develop international friendly and cooperative relations, the article says, adding:
The unbreakable DPRK-China friendly relationship has become a model of the solid international friendly and cooperative relations as it has been invariably inherited and developed through centuries and generations despite any hardships and trials and complicated international situation.
Any country weak in defense capability can neither defend its sovereignty from being encroached by the imperialist and dominationist forces nor develop the international friendly and cooperative relations based on respect for sovereignty. This is the lesson taught by the international situation in the new century.
The DPRK has consistently pursued the independent foreign policy. It is the stand of the DPRK that it would open the relationship of good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation with even those countries hostile toward it, if they respect its sovereignty and take friendly attitude.
