Newly elected MPs continue with registrations

BANGKOK, July 15 (TNA) - Registrations for newly elected Member of Parliaments continued on Friday at the Secretariat of the Thai House of Representatives.
Until now, the Election Commission of Thailand or EC has endorsed the MP status for 358 elected politicians, with 219 of them having reported to the House Secretariat so far.
Arriving for Friday's registration were key Pheu Thai Party candidates, including party leader and list MP Yongyuth Wichaidit, Police General Pracha Promnok and Prompong Nopparit.
Speaking to reporters, Yongyuth denied a report saying that his party had a substitute prime minister candidate to replace Yingluck Shinawatra, its No. 1 list MP-elect, in case she was disqualified of her MP status.
He insisted his party was confident Yingluck would be officially pronounced an MP and become Thailand’s next prime minister.
Meanwhile, Police General Pracha Promnok dismissed speculations that he was a substitute prime minister, including that he would become deputy prime minister for security affairs. He confirmed the cabinet line-up had not been finalized due to pending the official election results. (TNA)
