Thai consumer confidence index improves in June
BANGKOK, July 14 (TNA) - Thailand’s Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) is improving in all categories due to renewed hopes from anticipated economic stimulus policies under a new government.
Saowanee Thairungroj, deputy director for research at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC), said Thursday that the CCI rose for the second consecutive month in June, recording the first time improvement in five months in all categories.
Saowanee explained that declining retail prices of oil and massive circulation of funds ahead of the July 3 election were also contributing factors.
According to the UTCC, the Consumer Confidence Index rose from 71.1 points in May to 72.3 points in June, with the employment opportunity index rising from 71.7 points to 72.9 points, while the future income index from 98.5 points to 99.8 points.
Meanwhile, the Thai expert predicted that effective economic stimulus policies and increased consumer spending confidence would improve consumption figures in the second half of this year. (TNA)
