HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Meets UNAMID Chief

Doha, July 13 (QNA) - HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud met on Wednesday with HE Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the Joint African Union-United Nations Special Representative for Darfur and Head of the AU-UN mission in Darfur (UNAMID), currently visiting the country to take part in the signing ceremony of a peace agreement between the Sudanese government and the Liberation and Justice Movement, based on the Doha document on Darfur Peace, due to be held on Thursday, 14th July, 2011.
Talks during the meeting covered current preparations of the ceremony and the mediation plan to complete the Darfur peace process.
Prof. Gambari promised that the UNAMID would exert all possible efforts in order to accomplish the peace process and resolve the conflict in Darfur.
The meeting was attended by several Foreign Ministry officials.
