PRESIDENT RECEIVES CERTIFICATE FROM UNESCO DIRECTOR-GENERAL
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Last Sunday, the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Mrs. Irina G.Bokova gave Ts.Elbegdorj, the State Head of Mongolia, a certificate on registering the "Altai Mountains" painting in the List of Tangible Cultural Heritage (TCH).
“Mongolians are the people who have amazing heritage and culture and who have made a great history. We do appreciate contributions of the UNESCO to preserving the cultural heritage," he said. The Mongolians gladly received the news about registering the Naadam Festival and the Painting in the list of the World Cultural Heritage, we are really happy, Ts.Elbegdorj has stressed.
Mrs Bokova has thanked for the compliment and said she is satisfied with a fruitful development of the Mongolia-UNESCO relations and cooperation lasting for 50 years. “Mongolia has great heritage of culture and history,” she has said and congratulated Mongolia for taking the presidency of the Community of Democracies.
After the presentation ceremony, the President and the UNESCO Director-General shared views on the bilateral cooperation and reached agreements on some issues.
Mrs Bokova appreciated the State Head's proposal on organizing together with the UNESCO some international trainings and programmes on supporting the education of democracy.
Mr Elbegdorj has hoped that the UNESCO will cooperate with Mongolia also in reducing effects of the global warming and climate change.
