Blast in bus kills 14, 10 injured in Islamabad
Islamabad, July 12, 2011 (PPI): At least 14 people were killed and 10 injured due to blast in passenger van in which they were travelling from Rawalpindi to Kallar Syedain on Tuesday afternoon, near Islamabad. TV channels reported that gas cylinder may have caused the explosion.
The van with 30 people onboard caught fire after the blast and 14 passengers died of burn wounds. The injured were shifted to hospitals by police rescue teams. The van was destroyed in the blast.
Traffic on the main highway between Rawalpindi and Lahore was suspended after the blast. TV footage showed the burnt body of the van and rescue teams collecting bodies of those dead.
