New Thai Cabinet line-up not yet finalised

BANGKOK, July 12 (TNA) - Thailand's designated first female prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra acknowledged Tuesday that her Puea Thai Party's new Cabinet line-up has not been finalized pending the Election Commission official endorsement of the country's July 3 general election results.

Yingluck, who is the top-list elected-MP of the Puea Thai Party and the youngest sister of exiled ex-Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra, insisted that she is not concerned over a complaint against her MP status in connection with her noodle-frying activity during a past vote campaign in the country's northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima Province. But Yingluck asked critics to let her Cabinet work for the public and the nation first before making comments, denying, as well, rumours that she would concurrently take the defense portfolio.

Election Commission Secretary General Suthipol Thaweechaikarn announced that his election agency will meet this afternoon to discuss and give a final check on the official results of the country's July 3 national poll, with official endorsements of the electoral results likely to be announced by Tuesday.

Meanwhile, outgoing Thai caretaker prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva chaired his last Cabinet meeting at Government House Tuesday morning. Incumbent Thai Cabinet Secretary-General Ampon Kitti-ampon told reporters that the outgoing Cabinet would approve a royal decree for the opening of the next House session. According to the 2007 Consitution, the first Thai House session is to convene within 30 days after a general election, or within August 1 after the July 3 national poll. (TNA)
