Shabwah university to be set up
ATAQ, Sep 13 (Saba) - Prime minister Ali Muhammad Mujawar on his current visit to Shabwah province said preparations got underway to set up the Shabwah university, adding an academic team is currently conducting studies of the project.
The announcement came at a meeting that gathered Mujawar with the province local and
executive authorities members.
The meeting discussed several issues in relation to developmental projects in the
province as well building up human capabilities.
Mujawar affirmed that during the next two weeks electricity efficiency would be
enhanced in the province with five thousand megawatts and extra ten megawatts, five
of which would be installed over next five months and the other five in the coming
year.
He urged the local councils to bear their supervising responsibilities and
continuous following up of various processes of implementing developmental
projects.
Mujawar also urged the province leadership to focus on improving technical education
and vocational training in the future.
In regard of developing transport services in Shabwah, Mujawar affirmed that the
government has constructed the Transport ministry to pay field visits to study the
technical and infrastructure conditions of the Ataq airport in an effort to develop
it.
For his part, minister of Public Works and Roads Omer Abdullah al-Kurshmi said there
are 11 under construction projects at a cost of YR 10 billion, adding the ministry
has approved extra ten projects at the province at a cost of YR 15 billion and six
rural road projects at a cost of US $ 27 million.
Minister of Fisheries Muhammad Saleh Shamlan said there are plans to set up
infrastructure fish projects at a cost of YR 600 million and that teams to pay
field visits have been set up to conduct studies on the establishment of several
housing complexes.
Shamlan said there was an agreement with the Liquefied Gas Company to provide
electricity and other necessary services for fishermen in Shabwah in an attempt to
help them improve their conditions.
For his part, minister of Oil and Minerals Ameer al-Aidrus appreciated the province
people cooperation to implement the project of liquefied gas, pointing out that
about 98% has been completed of the pipeline and of the export port 85% has been
completed.
Al-Aidrus said the ministry is currently working with the oil companies to apply the
measures of getting the province people into jobs at these companies.
