Thailand hosts 42nd Physics Olympiad

BANGKOK, July 12 (TNA) - Thailand hosts the 42nd International Physics Olympiad or IPho 2011 from July 10-18, in which student representatives from 84 countries across the world take part, including five Thais.
At Chulalongkorn University's sports stadium in Bangkok, the venue of the IPho 2011, the international student representatives were today given five hours to solve three theoretical problems, starting from 8am-1pm without taking a break.
The global student competitors will gather again on July 14 to solve experimental problems. The five student representatives from Thailand were chosen from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, Patumwan Demonstration School and Triam Udom Suksa School.
Final results of the one-week IPho 2011 will be announced on July 17 when Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirinthorn will graciously preside over ceremonies to present the IPho 2011 awards to winners and to close the 42nd International Physics Olympiad.
To maintain transparency, the international student representatives are not allowed to meet their mentors until the two-part competition is completed. (TNA)
