Bangkok voted World’s Best City 2011

BANGKOK, July 9 (TNA) - Bangkok has been voted World’s Best City 2011 by worldwide readers of US-based Travel + Leisure Magazine, ranked top in both the World's and Asia's lists with 90.49 scores.
Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra said that the vote was part of the American luxurious travel magazine's 16th annual World’s Best Awards survey for its international readers’ favourite hotels, cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, car-rental agencies, spas, tour operators and safari outfitters, the results of which were released this week.
M.R. Sukhumbhand noted that the Thai capital has remained on top of the Travel + Leisure Magazine's list for the second consecutive year, and that in voting to choose the World's Best City, the global respondents were asked to rate sights, culture and arts, restaurants and food, people, shopping, and value.
Others voted on the "World's Best Citys" list in the Travel + Leisure Magazine's latest survey include Florence and Rome in Italy, New York in the United States, Istanbul in Turkey, Cape Town in South Africa, Siem Reap in Cambodia, Sydney in Australia, Barcelona in Spain and Paris in France.
According to the Bangkok governor, the global respondents also voted the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in the Thai capital the number one of the "Top City Hotel Award"; while The Peninsula and the Shangri-La, also in Bangkok, were voted number four and number 19 respectively.
M.R. Sukhumbhand said that he will fly to the United States to receive the honourably prizes himself, as top winners in each category will be honoured at an awards ceremony on July 14, hosted by Travel + Leisure Magazine's Editor in Chief Nancy Novogrod and VP/Publisher Jean-Paul Kyrillos at the new Mr. C Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
