AMBASSADOR, RECEPTION AND LONDON
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ On occasion of the 2220th anniversary of Founding of Mongolia's Statehood--Hun Empire, the 805th anniversary of the Mongol Great Empire, the 100th anniversary of Independence Declaration of Mongolia and the 90th anniversary of the People's Revolution, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the United Kongdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland B.Altangerel has given a reception in the "Reform" club, London.
The action has brought together some 200 British delegates, including the Lord Howell of Guildford, the Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office; the Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, the president of the UK Supreme Court.
Opening the reception, Mr Altangerel has noted that Mongolia is celebrating this year many anniversaries, and emphasized that the Mongolians always thank the UK for being the very first Western European country to establish diplomatic relations with Mongolia. He has underlined that interests of Great Britain in Mongolia have been increasing, and that the bilateral cooperation has been going up in investment, trade and economic sectors.
During the reception, the North Star Order has been bestowed upon Mrs. Caroline Humphrey, a professor of the University of Cambridge and a Mongolist, whereas the "Friendship" medal has been given to Dr. David Sneath, a manager of the Department of Anthropology of the University of Cambridge, in accordance with a decree of the Mongolian President.
