DEFENSE MINISTER VISITS GERMANY
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A delegation led by the Defense Minister L.Bold paid an official visit July 5-7 to the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) at invitation of his counterpart of Germany Karl Ernst Thomas de Maizière.
The Defense Ministers have held negotiations, shared views on deepening the bilateral defense cooperation and reached specific agreements such as to increase number of Mongolian troops who serve in Afghanistan together with the Bundeswehr, to organize pre-operation exercises with Germany's instructors and military techniques, to grant technical assistance and support to Mongolia for sending the 3rd unit of Mongolia's Armed Forces to peacekeeping operations.
In conjunction with augmenting the Mongolian troops in Afghanistan, a document on technical agreement has been signed by Major-General B.Bayarmagnai, a Deputy Head of the General Headquarters of Mongolia's Armed Forces, and by Admiral Andreas Krause, a Head of Bundeswehr's Division of Operational Management.
The Mongolian delegation has visited in Postdam the Headquarters of Bundeswehr's Division of Operational Management to get au fait with reports on military operations in Afghanistan, on activity course of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and its prospects. In addition, the Defense Minister has attended a video-conference organized by Bundeswehr's Division of Operational Management, and received a report from Lieutenant-Colonel L.Gantomor, the leader of Mongolian troops serving in Afghanistan.
In Berlin, the Defense Minister has met Peter Ammon, the State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office, and Ernst Burgbacher, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, for raising issues of the cooperation in mineral and mining fields. L.Bold also has met with S.Kastner, the head of Standing Committee of the Bundestag, and other MPs.
