NATIONAL WOMEN'S KABBADI TEAM HOPE TO IMPRESS IN INDIA

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- The national women's kabaddi team that competes in the Dr Kalaingar Karunanidhi 3rd Asian Women Kabaddi Championship in Tamil Nadu, India, from Sept 19-21 hope to make an impact against more experienced opponents.

According to team manager Ravindran Duraisamy, apart from coach K.
Balamurugan, two technical officials, Rosnah Osman and M. Manivanan would also
be accompanying the team.

"In terms of experience the national team to India is considered very young
and has little experience but they will be hoping to make their presence felt at
the championship although opposition will be tough," said Ravindran.

He added that the team had undergone centralised training in Bukit Jalil
since Sept 1, under the auspices of the National Sports Council.

Apart from Malaysia and India as the host, Bangladesh, Nepal, Japan, Korea,
Indonesia, Turmeknistan, Thailand and Iran are participating in the tournament.

The Malaysian team will depart to Chennai on Sept 16 for the championship
scheduled to be held at the Race Course Stadium in Madurai.

The Malaysian squad comprise of Nor Hidayah Abdul Halim, M. Malarkodee,
Siti Solehan Ibrahim, A. Sathya, B. Puspa, S.Pusparani, S. Subah, A. Shanti, V.
Amaladevi, M. Rata and T. Thevagi.
