S. Korean Park to make French debut this weekend
SEOUL, Sept. 13 (Yonhap) -- Park Chu-young, the South Korea football star who recently signed with AS Monaco, is likely to make his debut appearance in the French league over the weekend, experts said Saturday.
Park, 23, signed a four-year contract worth 2 million euros (3.3 billion won;
$2.9 million) with the Monaco-based team last week, becoming the fifth South
Korean ever to play in France.
Park will likely start Sunday morning (Korean time) in the match against FC
Lorient in Monaco, the experts said.
AS Monaco has captured seven league titles and five French Cup titles since its
inception in 1919. The team reached the UEFA Champions League final in 2004.
Park scored 18 goals in his professional debut year in 2005, becoming both rookie
of the year and the goal champion in the South Korean K-League.
