Ambassador: Azerbaijani aircraft shot down by Taliban members

The Azerbaijani aircraft was shot down by the Taliban movement, Azerbaijani ambassador to Pakistan and Afghanistan Dashgin Shikarov told Trend.
Five members of the nine-person crew on the "Azerbaijan Airlines" cargo aircraft which crashed in Afghanistan were Azerbaijani citizens, Shikarov told Trend. He said the other victims are the Uzbek citizens.
All crew members of the "Azerbaijan Airlines" cargo aircraft were killed.
The diplomat said that the version of the technical problems are not true. "From a technical point of view, the aircraft met all the requirements," he said. "The aircraft was operated by experienced crew."
A total of 18 tons of cargo was on board the plane en route from Baku to Bagram. The plane picked up its cargo at the Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport and took off at 21:26 (local time).
The representatives of a special commission investigating the causes of the Azerbaijani aircraft crash arrived in this country and prepare to visit the alleged crash site, a member of the comission investigating the aircraft crash, Advisor to the Silk Way Airlines Director Adil Gasimov told Trend.
He said that the commission's work is supported by the international coalition forces in Afghanistan (ISAF) and the State Administration of Afghanistan.
The commission includes the representatives of the Azerbaijani Civil Aviation and Silk Way specialists.
