EC to validate MP status for clean candidates next week
BANGKOK, July 6 (TNA) - The Election Commission of Thailand (EC) says it expects to validate MP status for candidates with no fraud cases by July 12.
Election Commissioner Sodsri Satayathum confirmed Wednesday the validation process for winning candidates from last Sunday’s general election, which she said would take another seven days to complete.
She added that for candidates pertaining to fraud allegations, their validation would not exceed 30 days, even when pending investigations.
According to the Thai election commissioner, as much as 50 per cent of all candidates in Sunday’s polling faced no complaints, and while some 210 complaints were reported, they involved only 30 per cent of the majority elected, which was small compared to that of the 2007 election. (TNA)
