Vietnam helps Cuba overcome hurricane consequences

Hanoi, (VNA) - Vietnam will provide 200,000 USD worth of rice as aid for Cuba to help it overcome the aftermaths of hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

During a meeting with the Cuban ambassador in Hanoi on September 12,
Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh offered condolences to Cuba over
its losses. He also said he believed that the Cuban people with their great
efforts will quickly overcome the consequences of the natural disasters.

Cuban Ambassador Fredesman Turro Gonzalez thanked the Vietnamese Party,
State and people for their sentiment towards Cuba , saying the assistance
to the Cuban people during the current hard time will help enrich the
traditional relations and special cooperation between the two parties,
states and peoples.

The same day, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee
Huynh Dam sent a message of condolences to the Cuban Committee for the
Defence of the Revolution over the country's losses caused by recent
hurricanes.-Enditem
