Thai farm production reaches decade high on yield in H1

BANGKOK, July 5 (TNA) - Thailand's Office of Agricultural Economics reports that the country's farm products have proved to be at their best in terms of their yields and prices in the first six months of the year.

Apichart Jongsakul, secretary-general of the Office of Agricultural Economics, said the yields and prices of Thai farm products grew by 7.3% in the January – June period, representing the healthiest outlook in a decade long. Farm products with highest yield included important produce such as maize, cassava, sugarcane and rubber, as well as livestock.

According to the secretary-general, yields of produce expanded by 11.1% while those of livestock grew by 1.7%, while the prices of maize, rubber and palm oil have also risen remarkably.

Apichart added that the Office of Agricultural Economics expects the yields and prices of Thai farm products will grow by 4.3-5.3% this year. (TNA)
