Active border trade reported after Thailand's general election

CHANTABURI, July 5 (TNA) - Thai-Cambodian border trade along the common frontier in Thailand's eastern Chantaburi has become more active in the wake of the country's new general election last Sunday.

Sombat Juengtrakul, vice president of Chantaburi's association of border trade and tourism entrepreneurs, told reporters of the development on Tuesday, noting that purchase orders for Thai consumer goods from the Cambodian side have surged by some five million baht daily, from more than 15 million baht normally, since Thailand's new general election ended smoothly on July 3 with the Pheu Thai Party winning the national poll.

Sombat said that he has been contacted by Cambodian entrepreneurs, extending their congratulations on the successful Thai general election and expressing their confidence in continuing border businesses.

According to the Chantaburi's border business association vice chief, Cambodian entrepreneurs are foreseen to have more confidence after the formation of the newly-elected Thai government is completed. (TNA)
