OPERA SINGER WINS SILVER MEDAL AT INT'L CONTEST


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A soloist of the Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet E.Amartuvshin won a silver medal at the 14th international contest of opera singing named after P.l. Tchaikovsky. It took place June 14-30 in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Mongolia has been represented by E.Amartuvshin, Ch.Enkhtaivan and J.Byambajav singers.
One of the biggest contest for classic arts, the Tchaikovsky's international contest runs in the categories of playing piano, violoncello and solo singing.
E.Amartuvshin has followed Chongming Park, a singer from the Republic of Korea. The gold medal winner has received a cash prize of EUR 20.000, the runner-up--EUR 15.000, the bronze medalist--EUR 10.000, the 4th place holder--EUR 5.000, and the 5th place holder--EUR 3.000 with diplomas.
