ASEAN Secretary urges new Thai government to tackle social conflicts
BANGKOK, July 4 (TNA) - As Thailand braces for a new regime under a five-party coalition, ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan is urging for the incoming government to seriously tackle social conflicts.
Surin made the remarks on Monday after chairing a seminar on the Impact of the ASEAN Free-Trade Agreement on Thai Labor, saying that the next government should begin developmental procedures as soon as possible, in order to improve Thailand’s image in the global community.
Surin revealed that the international community, including ASEAN countries, was relieved now that the Thai government gained a public mandate to run the country after almost 6 years of political turmoil. (TNA)
