Fartusi: increase in cancer cases numbers in Maysan due to pollution
Amara (NINA) – Head of the Health and Environment Committee in Maysan Provincial Council, Maitham Al Fartusi, announced the increase in cancer cases numbers in the province due to the environmental pollution.
He told NINA correspondent that the PC is studying filing a lawsuit against people, offices, and companies causing environmental pollution.
Fartusi added “the oil wells and what they release of toxic gases that are listed as the second dangerous pollutant, while, the first dangerous pollutant in Maysan are the radioactive waste of the war that were not treated so far despite that the PC voted unanimously on lifting them under supervision of the Environment Department.”
Fartusi called on the specialized departments and the central government to live up to their responsibilities and organize a campaign to end the radioactive dangers in the province.
