Unofficial results of Thailand's election expected by Sunday night

BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) - Political experts and observers say that the Election Commission of Thailand (EC) is expected to release unofficial results of the country's general election Sunday by around 9pm, just hours after ballot boxes at all constituencies nationwide are closed.
However, first indications of Thailand's new general election outcome will be from exit polls--set to be released soon after the nationwide vote ends at 3:00pm--after it kicks off simultaneously at 8am.
Some 47 million Thai nationals, aged 18 years upward, are eligible to vote in Sunday's general election for the country's 500-seat House of Representatives.
The Thai election agency has invited representatives from 11 foreign countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Korea, Malaysia, the Maldives, Nepal, Switzerland and Japan, to observe the national poll, aimed to show the world community that the Thai general election meets international standards.
Apart from the foreign observers, the EC has also allowed representatives of Thai political parties to observe its election organization. (TNA)
