Thai authority cuts cooking palm oil price down by five baht/litre

BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) - Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce has approved a nationwide retail price cut for cooking palm oil by five baht a litre, from 47 baht to 42 baht a litre, effective from Saturday.

Watcharee Wimuktayon, Director General of the ministry’s Department of Internal Trade, confirmed the five-baht price reduction for cooking palm oil, saying that the new move followed a continuing drop of raw oil palm prices recently to 4.50-5.40 baht a kilogram now, sending raw palm oil prices down to about 28-30 baht a kilogram.

The senior Thai Commerce Ministry official said, however, that the retail price of cooking soybean oil has remained unchanged at 55 baht a litre. (TNA)
