OIC Foreign Ministers Commend Qatar's Efforts on Darfur

Astana, June 30 (QNA) - The Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the end of their meeting Thursday in the city of Astana, Kazakhstan, commended the positive role played by the State of Qatar under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, in support of the peace process and development in Darfur aimed at achieving security and stability there.
The Ministers welcomed the Doha Document peace in Darfur which was adopted by the expanded Conference of the stakeholders in Darfur, held from May 27 to 31, 2011, in Doha as a solid basis for reaching a comprehensive cease-fire and peaceful and just settlement that lead to peace and stability in Darfur .. The Ministers called on all parties to speed up without delay to sign a comprehensive cease-fire and make the necessary compromises to reach a final peace agreement on the basis of this document at the earliest.
The Ministers also expressed their thanks and appreciation to HE Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, and the UN-AU Joint Mediator Djibril Bassole for their sincere efforts and perseverance during the past two and a half years.(QNA)
