EXPANDED TALKS HELD BETWEEN PRESIDENTS OF MONGOLIA AND UKRAINE

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Paying to Ukraine the state visit, the President Ts.Elbegdorj and his spouse Kh.Bolormaa laid Wednesday a wreath to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers in Kiev. After this, an official ceremony ran in the President's Palace to welcome Ts.Elbegdorj and his spouse.
The Presidents of the two countries have held an individual meeting to share issues of the bilateral relations. Then, the dignitaries have held official talks expanded by official representatives of the countries.
The Mongolian President has thanked his Ukraine counterpart for a warm welcome and expressed a willingness to widen the Mongolia-Ukraine traditional friendly relations in all spheres. "They are maintained in agriculture, education and humanity spheres and may be refreshed,“ hew added.
Mongolia wants to intensify the ties also in machinery industry, energy, mining and construction sectors, and gives a priority to augmenting of the trade turnover, supposing that it is possible to activate talks about this in frames of the World Trade Organization, he went on.
He has said emphasized that it is of importance to support all works discussed at the intergovernmental commission meetings.
The head of Mongolian state has hoped that acompanying him businessmen would establish ties with the Ukrainian counterparts. He has added Mongolia wants to increase number of students to study in Ukraine who would major in nuclear energy, agriculture and technologies. Moreover, Ts.Elbegdorj has underlined an importance to open embassies of the countries.
In turn, Ukraine's President V.F. Yanukovich has expressed a gratitude to Ts.Elbegdorj for paying the state visit to Ukraine. He has said he accepts proposals out by the Mongolian side, adding that he is satisfied with signing of some documents.
Ukraine wants to boost mutually beneficial cooperation with Mongolia in the mining, mineral and agricultural spheres. "Mongolia is rich in resources of mineral, Ukraine--in extraction and processing hi tech,” he said.
The Ukrainian President has said he accepts the proposal to intensify the collaboration in education by increasing the number of Mongolian students in Ukraine. “Some 20 students are studying here with our governmental scholarships, now this number will be added by ten,” he said.
Mr Yanukovich has fully supported the Mongolian President's suggestion to open the embassies.
Then the sides have discussed other issues of the relations as well as international and regional matters. The sides have affirmed an importance of regularizing high-level talks.
The Presidents have appreciated a widening of the cooperation in the security and defense sectors, and considered as necessary to create an intergovernmental commission-level mechanism to be in charge of military and technical cooperation affairs.
The Mongolian side has decided to study a possibility of introducing experiences of Ukraine in coal processing and to back all initiatives on developing tourism and mounting exhibitions in Ukraine.
Present at the talks were G.Zandanshatar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia; O.Dambiinyam, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Ukraine; L.Bold, the Minister of Defense and head of the Mongolia's side of the intergovernmental commission; T.Badamjunai, the Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry; K.I.Grishenko, Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs; S.V.Lyovochkin, a head of the Presidential Office; A.I.Goncharuk, an advisor to the President; Yu.V.Kostenko, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Mongolia, and others.
