QAFCO Signs Major Supply Agreement
Doha, June 29 (QNA) - Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO) has boosted its presence in the South African market by signing a major new agreement to supply ammonia to the M/S. Omnia Group (Pty) Ltd, South Africa with more than 200,000 MT annually for 5 years firm and 5 years optional.
The agreement was signed on 29th June 2011 in Grand Hyatt Dubai by Chief Executive Officer of QAFCO Khalifa Abdulla Al-Sowaidi, and Director, Production and Procurement Adriaan de Lange.
The signing ceremony was attended by Marketing Manager Yousef Jeham Al-Kuwari, and Ali Ahmad Al-Sanadi, Ammonia Sales Manager from QAFCO side,
and from Omnia, Casper le Roux, General Manager-Ammonia.
Al-Sowaidi said that South African market is one of the most important and strategic market for QAFCO. He added that Qafco has already shown its presence in the South African market through M/S. Foskor and Sasol in the last couple of years.
By signing this agreement, QAFCO covered 100% South African market. Mr. Al-Sowaidi further added that QAFCO marketing strategies are always taking into consideration current and future QAFCO s expansion pointing to its ongoing expansion projects QAFCO 5 & 6, which will hike the QAFCO's ammonia production to 3,8 million MT and urea production to 5.6 million MT annually and thereby making it the largest single site producer of ammonia and urea. These expansions and future plans are the impetus to expand our market reach" he added. (QNA)
