Lee to spend Chuseok holidays at Cheong Wa Dae By By Yoo Cheong-mo
SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak will spend the three-day Chuseok (Korean thanksgiving) holidays, starting on Saturday, at the presidential residence Cheong Wa Dae without any public appearances scheduled, presidential aides said Friday.
"Lee already visited his parents' graves in Ichon (on the southern outskirts
of Seoul) in late August. He will quietly celebrate the upcoming Chuseok holidays
together with his family," said an aide.
"The president's only son, three daughters, sons-in-law and their children
are expected to visit Cheong Wa Dae. He is also expected to enjoy tennis,
mountain climbing and reading during the holidays."
On Chuseok, Koreans traditionally return to their hometowns to perform ancestral
worship rituals and visit the tombs of their immediate ancestors.
